How to Automate Blog Publishing on Wix (2026 Guide)

What Wix allows, and what it does not

Wix has a real blog with a real API, but the automation story is narrower than WordPress and it helps to know the boundaries before planning around them.

What works: creating and publishing blog posts programmatically, setting cover images, categories, tags, SEO title and description, and scheduling posts for future publication. Posts land as native Wix blog posts with your site's design applied.

What does not: deep template customization from outside, arbitrary HTML in post bodies (Wix uses its own rich-content format), and anything requiring server-side code unless you are on Wix Velo.

For the vast majority of businesses on Wix — service businesses, local shops, small brands — the supported set covers everything the blog is actually used for.

    Setting it up

    1. Confirm your plan includes the blog. Wix Blog is a free app, but a paid Premium plan is needed to remove Wix branding and connect a custom domain, which you want before investing in SEO.
    2. Install the connecting app from the Wix App Market and authorize it for the specific site. Authorization is per-site, so a multi-site account authorizes each one separately.
    3. Confirm the connection with a test post. Publish a throwaway draft and verify it appears with its image and metadata intact, then delete it. Do this before scheduling a month of content.
    4. Set your author and default category so posts do not land unattributed.

Note that the Wix session is tied to the site instance, so if you administer several Wix sites, keep them in separate workspaces to avoid publishing to the wrong one — this is by far the most common mistake in multi-site setups.

Wix SEO settings worth fixing first

Automation will not rescue a site with the defaults left in place:

    • Per-page SEO titles and descriptions. Wix's defaults are the page name plus site name, which is duplicate-title territory across your whole site.
    • URL slugs. Wix will happily generate /post/my-first-post-1. Set clean slugs at creation, because changing them later requires managing redirects.
    • Alt text on every image. Wix sites are image-heavy by design, and this is usually the largest single accessibility and SEO gap.
    • The Wix SEO Setup Checklist, found in the dashboard. It is genuinely good and takes an afternoon.
    • Connect Search Console through Wix's built-in integration and submit the sitemap Wix generates at /sitemap.xml.
    • Structured data. Wix emits BlogPosting schema on blog posts automatically; verify it in the Rich Results Test rather than assuming.

A content plan that fits a small Wix site

Most Wix sites are service businesses. The content that works is local and specific:

    • Service + location pages — one per service per area you genuinely serve, with real detail about that area. Do not generate fifty near-identical city pages; that is the pattern spam policies target.
    • Answers to the questions you get on the phone. These are exactly what people search, and you already know the answers.
    • Project or case write-ups with real photos. First-party images are a genuine ranking and trust advantage on Wix sites, which are otherwise full of stock photography.
    • Seasonal and timely posts relevant to your trade.

Two to four posts a month is plenty for a local business. Depth and specificity matter far more than cadence at this scale.

    Automating the workflow

The realistic setup: plan a month of topics in one sitting, generate drafts, review them for accuracy about your own services, and let them publish on schedule with the social versions going out at the same time.

Keep review on. Local service content makes claims about pricing, availability, service areas, and licensing that a model should never invent. The automation is there to remove the formatting, image, publishing, and cross-posting work, which is the part that stops people from posting at all.

FireRankings publishes directly into Wix Blog with cover image, categories, tags, and SEO fields set, schedules posts on your calendar, and generates the matching Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and email versions from the same source material.

    Troubleshooting

    • Post publishes without its image. The image failed to upload before publish; check that the source image is a supported format and under the size limit.
    • Connection shows as expired. Wix instance tokens are site-scoped and can be invalidated by app permission changes. Reauthorize the app for that site.
    • Wrong site received the post. Multiple Wix sites connected under one workspace. Separate them.
    • Scheduled post did not appear. Confirm the scheduled time was stored in UTC and that the post's status is scheduled rather than draft.
